Unless you live in the immediate area it is highly likely that you have never heard of Barnoldswick. Situated approximately mid way between Burnley and Skipton it is probably one of the last places where you would expect to find a consistent award winning off licence with a vast choice of beers, wines and spirits from around the globe and, on the same premises, a friendly private members club where in convivial surroundings, members can give their opinions on the beverages on offer. Prepare then to be amazed by the Rainhall Drinks Company! Once just a dream, now a successful and unique reality.

This family run independent business has won a number of prizes for excellence and most would be more than pleased with this but the Rainhall Drinks Company has another string to its bow in the form of an incredibly attractive and friendly private members club in the form of a cellar bar

Just to put you in the picture, Barnoldswick lies on the Leeds/Liverpool Canal and is an old cotton mill town known locally as “Barlick”. With around 13000 inhabitants it is East Lancashire, although this itself is a source of disagreement as before 1974 Barnoldswick was proud of its West Riding of Yorkshire status. Some still are!

Rainhall Drinks Company has evolved over almost 50 years in the same family. At the beginning it was a traditional grocery store but eventually Alan Sagar and his wife Penny, bought the business from Alan's father when he retired. Alan was then able to realise the first part of his dream, to move away from the grocery shop activity and in to the highly specialised field of wines, spirits and specialist beers. With a huge range of all three, there are an incredible 300 beers alone from all over the UK and worldwide.

This family run independent business has won a number of prizes for excellence and most would be more than pleased with this but the Rainhall Drinks Company has another string to its bow in the form of an incredibly attractive and friendly private members club, known as The Cellar Bar; where, in quiet, convivial surroundings members can enjoy sampling some of the fine drinks that are available including cask ales. You may recall an old music hall song “Sweet and Low”; the title certainly applies to The Cellar Bar at the Rainhall Drinks Company. What a wonderful venue for a private party and in the warm summer months so is the beer garden!

Rainhall Drinks Company is probably the finest off licence you will ever visit but it is also much, much more!
